CITES is an international agreement between governments, aimed to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. World Wildlife Day highlights importance of sustainable use of wildlife for people, planet and prosperity in “biodiversity super year 73rd meeting of the CITES.

The carcass report can not only be used for any carcass found on a ground patrol, but also for incidental reports which require assessment and follow-up, e.g. tourists reporting dead elephants. This should eventually prove particularly useful to wildlife managers in determining which type of patrol or surveillance system is the most effective.

With a little over 10 years left to meet the target date ofthe world will need to pick up the pace and put greater efforts in finding better solutions to pollution, climate change and biodiversity loss in order to truly transform societies and economies.
